Amber Melody

Hi! I’m Amber Melody.
Photographer, Blogger and Founder of The Beautiful Lens.

Welcome to my place!

Here are 10 possibly-interesting things to help you get to know me:

I love to travel. Spending six weeks living in a Parisian loft in St Germain des Pres the Winter before last was a special highlight. But so was road-tripping across America in my twenties. And grinding cacao beans with my family in Bali. And Gaudi-hunting in Barcelona. You get the picture. Currently, my main concern is that I haven’t spent enough time in New York City. Or Paris, did I mention Paris? ;)

I lived in more than 20 different houses as a child. Think: my parent’s gypsy years. What I know for sure is that HOME is more about the people you’re with than the place you’re in. Having said that, I have a thing for beautiful old wooden houses and love this one we call home.

I graduated from University with a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication – majoring in Photography and Digital Media.
I moved to London at 20 and embarked on a career in Editorial Design, freelancing for magazines including Vogue, GQ, The Observer and Tatler, working both in London and Sydney. I still heart magazines.
But I think I was born to blog.
I married my childhood sweetheart.
He is an author, a world-changer and the love of my life.
I had good taste young ;)
We moved to Byron Bay in 1999 in search of sand, sunshine and blueberry pancakes. Today we live in Bangalow (15 minutes from Byron) and have two creative, smart and funny sons who like pancakes too.

I love movies and have production-designed a number of short films.
I also spent a summer interning in the Art Departments at Fox Studios and New Line Cinema in LA. Fun.
I started my first blog in 2008.
Photography is my eternal adventure.
My way of capturing beauty and making sense of the world.
