♥When Ford Australia gave me their top of the range SUV, the Ford Everest Titanium, to drive for six weeks and asked me to blog about it, I brainstormed a lot of ideas. I wanted to show off it’s high-end glam meets innovation meets rugged off-road charm, but I wanted to be able to do it in a subtle and non-obtrusive way that blended with my regular content and interests of The Beautiful Lens readers.
I hope I have succeeded so far. You can read about my location scouting road trip-for-one in Road Tripping, and the relationship between nature and creativity (and how author Tristan Bancks taps into both) in On The Run. These two posts saw me head north on the highway to Cabarita Beach, utilising the voice controlled navigation system to keep me company, then into the wilds of the hinterland around Byron Bay to test out the Everest’s terrain management system.
My self-determined assignments have proven to be a lot of fun. And I really wanted the creation of my final Ford story to feel the same way so I asked the awesome girls in our insta-meet group #ByronBayInstagrammers, if they would get involved. They enthusiastically said yes. What’s the point of having a seven-seat car (with power fold split 3rd row seats) if you don’t make the most of it?
We usually meet for coffee each Tuesday morning at The Farm (from 9am if you would like to join us – everyone is welcome) but last week we hit the road. Destination: Seven Mile Beach in nearby Lennox Head. Lennox is a perfect place to start the day and we packed plenty of breakfast picnic supplies to keep us all happy.
As you have probably already seen, I shot a quick video to accompany this post (that officially makes me a vlogger now, right?! Three videos now up on my YouTube channel ;) and in the spirit of photos coming to life, you get to meet some of my beautiful insta-friends. But I also want to share my images from the day with you. Enjoy. Let’s chat at the end :)
I love our meet-ups. Each week sees a different combination of people (with my regular crew of Cas, Cassie, Emma and I!) but it always has great energy. These women are hugely enthusiastic and supportive and have quickly become an important part of my creative life.
Is there an instagrammers meet-up group in your area? Do some google and instagram-searching to find your tribe – my instagram feed is here @ambermelody – and if there isn’t one, start your own… just like I did! You won’t regret it.
Lastly, I’d love to know who your inspirational seven are – the people who inspire you! Let’s talk in the comments below. Love, XO
p.s. Huge thanks to Ford Australia and Kidspot Voices of 2015 for believing in The Beautiful Lens, and for giving me this opportunity. It’s been a fantastic experience. Judging of the full competition kicks off at the start of November, so please wish me luck everyone and feel free to share this post and video!
